Paper Recycling Bin

Alicia Mathew, the creator of RecycleRoundup, collected first-hand data from businesses and organizations all across Aurora and Naperville. She created a database of companies that reputably recycle plastics, which you can find below!

My Story

RecycleRoundup

I was 12 years old when I created a petition for the city of Aurora to have a centralized plastic bag recycling system. No one signed it.

Since then, I've seen issues pop up all around my community. I've noticed bags spilling out of the plastic bag recycling receptacles in stores, residents worried about where their bags are sent, and cupboards filled with unrecyclable plastics.

Reminder - you CANNOT recycle plastic bags or films in normal recycling bins! They can damage machinery!

There was a resource for reputable plastic bag recycling available on bagandfilmrecycling.org, but this was taken down due to a lack of substantial research on which companies reputably recycle the bags and where they are sent. I hope to solve this problem in the Aurora Naperville area once and for all! Furthermore, this project focuses on reusable options as well, so residents can consider reducing their plastic waste. Finally, I have included contact information so that residents can take environmental advocacy into their own hands.

Thanks for supporting RecycleRoundup!
